svcutil redistributable? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

Are svcutil.exe, wsdl.exe and disco.exe redistributable? i.e. can I call them from a commercial program and bring them with the installation of that program?

    Thanks,
    Yaron

From a technical perspective I don't see why not; it's just like any other .exe. However, you will have to check from legality perpective as this will depend on the license agreement.

  • Thanks

I am asking on the legality: Is there someone here from MSFT who knows the answer or can tell me who to ask in order to get one?

  • I am curious about this too.  I spent 30 mins or so going over the web searching for this information as well.  If it were part of the .Net Framework install I would say yes since this is redistributable.  But these tools are part of Visual Studio and/or the SDK.  I couldnt find much about the licensing of programs in the SDK for redistribution.

  • Does anyone have any further information on this?
