Is it possible to have one LdapMembership provider for multiple eDirectory/Ldap Servers? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

We have a small server farm installation of MOSS 2007. We have a novell environment so we are using ldap to connect our users. The problem is that we also have 6 remote offices each with its own novell edirectory/tree/ldap. We need these offices to be able to use SharePoint. We have created our first web application and site collection. We have extended that web application to port 81. We created the LdapMembership provider, assigned it to the custom zone, and modified the web.configs to tap into our home office edirectory server. We were able to import all the users from the home office and all the users from the home office can log in through Form Based Authentication. Now we need to get our remote office users to do the same. Is there a way that we can use the same ldapmembership provider to connect to multiple ldap servers?

  • You can certainly do that with a virtual directory or a ldap proxy (third party products).
