Editing MenuItem Control Templates RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi! I am new to Expression Blend, so maybe this is an obvious question.

I am trying to edit the MENUITEM template. I want to mimic the Visual Studio 2008 menu appearance.

It appears that there are a number of roles in a menuitem (TopLevelHeader for example), so when I try to edit the template (right-click menu - Edit Control Parts), it seems to arbitrarily select the role based on which level I start with. Then when I try to edit it from another location to get at its appearance (like a child menuitem), I can only edit a new copy or replace the other. It does not seem to allow me to select a role to work with. It seems the only way to get at the different roles is to switch to hand editing the XAML. Very messy.

Is this a limitation of the tool or is there a way to dig in and edit the role I am interested in?

    Thanks!

  • Hi - you posted this to the Expression Studio forum, so I'm going to move this to the Blend forum where you're more likely to receive replies. Hopefully!
