.NET Framework 2.0 Installation error... RRS feed

  • Question

  • Okay, so, I am trying to install .NET Framework 2.0 but an error always pops up going somewhat like this: "Setup cannot continue because this version of the .NET Framework is incompatible with the previously installed one" and gives me a link that I tried and doesn't work. So I did some research and found that I need to uninstall .NET Framework 2.0 SP1 before I try downloading this one, but I don't have .NET Framework 2.0 SP1. I have a Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2 and its a 32 bit computer. I have links of a picture of all of the .Net frameworks I have installed and a picture of the icon of the .NET framework 2.0 I am trying to install.

Here are the links of the pictures: http://i46.tinypic.com/2zxxe0o.png and http://i48.tinypic.com/umnuv.png

Pleeease help me I've been at this for hours!!!

  • OK, your .NET Framework 2.0 installation, with SP2, the last service pack issues for 2.0, checks out as installed and configured correctly.

Why are you trying to install something that appears to be on your system already?

  • Let's check the current .NET 2.0 installation on your system.

    Use this tool:

Run the tool with .NET 2.0 selected, then post the first 15 lines AND last 15 lines of the tool log here.

  • My little cousin is over at my house for a few weeks, and he plays this game called Wizard101, So I downloaded it for him, and he was wondering if it was possible to get currency in game that you would have to pay IRL money for. So I looked it up and found a program, but it required .NET Framework 2.0, which I had, so he tried using it but the program got an error saying it needed .NET framework 2.0.  I'm stumped as to why.

Edit: And it also had a download for .NET framework 2.0 which I tried but the installation was unsuccessful. Maybe if I uninstall and re-install .NET Framework 2.0?

Edit 2: Apparently I can't uninstall it, even with .NETFX Cleanup tool..

Edit 9001: seems that it might have been a fake, too bad my cousin is pretty sad. :/

  • Hi,

    Sorry for the late track.

But as the tool verified, .NET installed successfully on your OS. THe error may due to that game.

Please contact Wizard101 for support on this issue.
