  • Question

  • Need to upload file size around 100 GB(or unlimited if possible ) and types PDF, word, PPT, ZIP, Win RAR, PDS, MP4, MP3, FLV, JPEG, PNG, GIF…Is this possible or not?

  • No. There is a hard limit of 2GB in SharePoint 2013 and at the moment in Office 365. It is not possible to do with current generation tools, there are no work arounds other than breaking the files up into smaller parts.

    OneDrive allows up to 10GB and in future the upload limit for O365 and vNext may be increased to match OneDrive, however it is very, very unlikely that 100GB will be practical or possible in the near to medium term.

    Sometimes SharePoint is not the answer, this appears to be one of those times.

  • Using RBS with SharePoint has the same file size limit of 2 GB. You should also consider other practical concerns including network performance, the performance of transferring large files over HTTP, and user expectations for performance of file transfer etc.
