My problem was that at first boot after installation there was no 'Picture' covering the lock screen.
Soon thereafter I chose a picture/wallpaper and then restarted the system.
I was totally stymied for hours!!! For I was unaware that one had to press the ESC
key to 'roll up' the picture to reveal the Log On screen that shows the Username and prompt for the password.
That's how I got 'unstuck' from the Lock Screen. Good Luck!

Hello,
Do you mean to say that you don't see the enter password prompt on the Welcome screen?
So what exactly happens when you press WindowsKey+L to lock the workstation? Do you see the Welcome screen? What happens when you press Ctrl+Alt+Delete on the Welcome screen?
Thank you.

Do you select "User" or do you select a user? When you setup Win8, it should have prompted you to either setup an account that is based off an email that you can tie to your Windows Live Account (it will make one if you don't), or you can create a local account of your choosing similar to how Windows 7 and previous versions work. If you just automatically came up with a "User" account, you have something going on.
Let me ask, what version of Windows 8 are you using? Are you using the supported, released Developer Preview version (build 8102), or some other later build?
