Question

When I try to install the 32-bit Developer Preview from DVD, I receive the message "Error staging the media to the hard disk" after completion of 60-94 percent. This occurred on two separate machine that appear to have adequate hardware.Friday, October 21, 2011 10:46 PM

If DVD is fine, then it might be problem during burning or software that yo use to burn DVD. It might be small files or part of Windows Installation missing or won't work. Try DVD in a PC with different hard disk see if it same result?
Since you said it occurred in other machines , it most likely be issue installation files.

Where did you download Windows 8 ?
How did you burn it to DVD?
Which software did you use to do burning (if any)
These problem are most likely due to error in burning in DVD or convert ISO to MSI or it might be badsector in DVD itself . You could try use different method or DVD to burn ISO file, also make sure you installed Windows 8 only from Microsoft website.

This is not a DVD quality problem.
ISO file downloaded and burned to DVD successfully. The DVD was then loaded on my working machine successfully up to the point of install, but not installed.
The media load failure occurred on two other machine, using the same DVD.
