Dynamic Linq with ADO.NET Data Services RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
Does anyone now if it is possible to use Dynamic Linq with ADO.NET Data Services Client for Silverlight 2.
And if it is, I'd really appreciate a code sample of using it.
And if it's not possible, what are the alternatives for creating dynamic queries / sql commands?

Any help would be most appreciated.

    Regards,

    Ulisses

  • The LINQ that you can perform on the Silverlight client via the service endpoint (IEnumerable) exposed via ADO.NET Data Services is limited to what can be translated to URLs.   For example, you can do simple commands like select/orderby/where etc.  However, for example group by's don't work.  Therefore, I am not sure what you would gain by making it dynamic as the LINQ is very limited.

Now if you want to do dynamic LINQ on the local Silverlight client or on the ADO.NET Data Service backend...you can do that by using the dynamic LINQ library (part of the LINQ examples project) or writing your own.
