AZ Copy to copy files

    Question

  • We are using AZ copy to move database files from on prem servers to the azure sql vms for some of our clients. The question I have does AZ copy encrypt the data in flight using the HTTPS endpoint of the Azure storage account? The data we are copying does contain personal information and we need to make sure it is secure while copying from on prem to the cloud.

    Thanks, JAdams

  • When you use https in AzCopy, the Data confidential and Integration is protected by https. It's just like you use https in Azure storage client library. (AzCopy is based on Azure storage client library)

And For your case, https can  ensure the contents of communications cannot be read or forged by any third party.

  • Hi,

AzCopy by default uses .NET MD5 implementation to calculate the MD5 when copying objects, but there are some security requirements that need AzCopy to enable FIPS compliant MD5 setting:
