Word 2007 Programatic Save Works in Development Machine But fails in EndUser Machine running on Administrator account. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello Friends,

    I have a piece of VS2010 (C#) + Microsoft Word 2007 code

that works perfectly in my Development machine but

fails in a particular End User Machine on its Administrator

Even in the enduser machine all functionalities of the

code like Printing works correctly but saving the document

to enduser hard disc in "MyDocuments" folder does not work. Enduser has rights

to save in the MyDocuments folder of that machine. Actually EndUser account has

administrative rights. I ran the code in my machine with all levels of settings in

"USER ACCOUNT CONTROL" (UAC) and it works perfectly.

    I do not think

it is a problem with Word2007 or code issue but there

must be some setup in the environment that i have in

development machine which is missing in enduser machine that

causes the problem. Unfortunately now i dont have access to

enduser machine. All i require is  possible

solutions or possible reason the problem might occur.

    Details are as follows:

    Development Machine Environment:

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Bit Edition

    Microsoft Office 2007

    Project Details

Visual Studio 2010 - Class Library Project type.

Reference to Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word (added from .Net TAB) added by Add Reference and then using .NET TAB to add the Reference.

    Libraries developed as Release x86.

    End User Machine

    Windows 7 Ultimate x86

    Antivirus Disabled.

Microsoft Office 2007 (Did not confirm edition)

    User Account - Machine Administrator

  • Check and see if there are any Bluetooth add-ins on the problem machine. If there are, disable them and see if that fixes it. From various forum posts I've started to see a pattern of problems that might be Window 7 64bit and Bluetooth add-in related.  I haven't yet seen that this is a known problem, but I may have just missed seeing the alert.

  • Hi Anand2011,

You project is not VSTO project but some applications like WinForm which auto Word object model. Right?

Do you know what the error message is when the end-user tries to save a document?

Does the issue only occurs when the end-user save a document into a particular folder (“MyDocument in your description”)?

I look forward to hearing of you soon.
