Notification operation type not working RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

I am facing some issue with WCF-Custom adapter. I am using WCF-Custom adapter on receive location with binding type sqlBinding. We have InboundOperationType is Notification. Sometimes notification is not working and when we restart the host then it works.

Is anyone have clue why its not working sometimes and what do we need to do for solution?

Quick help would be much appreciated.

  • No any error log in event viewer either. But when I restarted the host instance it works.

    Satya,

Please try to follow below steps,

    1. Create new receive location with same notification.
    2. Disable old RL.
    3. Verify if this solve your issue.

  • If this is a new implementation, then my recommendation is simple, don't use Notifications.

Probably not what you want to hear but I have experienced exactly this before and there is no solution other than to restart the Receive Location. Unfortunately, this is a silent failure so you don't even know there is a problem.  You will not find a error anywhere, believe me, I've looked.

Polling is your best option.  Here are some Polling patterns you may fine useful: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/24803.biztalk-server-sql-patterns-for-polling-and-batch-retreive.aspx

  • Hi ,

WCF SQL Notification service is event driven . Have you verified whether your SQL statement for Notification is working fine   . Is it returning you result ?

Also try changing your host instance on which your Receive Handler is running . See if this has some impact on your case or not as you are not getting any exception.

    Thanks

    Abhishek
