Installation level option missing for Word Add-In Setup Project RRS feed

  • Question

  • I created a 2007 word Add-In project using VSTO 2005 SE, which created a setup project along with it. When I built this setup and tried to install it, I found that, there was no option to select, whether the application should be installed "just to me" or to "everyone".
I thought, this may be a new change in VSTO 2005 SE. But then I created a new setup project separately and added my word Add-In project output to it. When I tried to install this setup, I found these options are available.
Now, I am bit confused, as this is a defect in VSTO 2005 SE or is it the required functionality?
If it is required, then what is the reason?

  • Hi Savita,

Office 2007 add-ins can only be installed on a per-user basis as they are registered into HCKU. When VSTO creates an add-in project, automation code removes the 'Install for all users' option.
