Using Azure Storage in Failover Clusters

  • Scenario

We have two Windows 2012 R2 virtual servers running in Azure. We have allocated four 1024 GiB drives across multiple storage accounts to each server. We are currently able to manipulate the drives (Storage Pool with Striping) from within Windows with no issues. However when we try and cluster the drives with the view of a creating a SQL Server Failover Cluster, we receive errors such as "Incorrect Function" or - less helpfully - simply "Failed" or "Offline". There is nothing of any usefulness in the Event Logs. We have tried deleting and recreating the VMs, Storage Accounts and re-installing the necessary Features but to no avail.

Has anyone had a similar issue or can provide advice on how we can achieve a functional cluster in Azure? I am happy to provide any screenshots or logs which may assist in troubleshooting.

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum but it appears that Storage is where the cluster is failing. The creation of the cluster (including validation) and the adding of nodes performs as expected but we simply unable to add clustered storage.
