Using a Excel Chart/PowerChart from a Excel file within my own application? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I would like to use/display charts that i previously have created in a Excel file in my own .NET application. Especially charts with PowerPivot Tables as data source.

I don't know if VSTO is the right tool for that, but maybe some one can give me a hint how to do something like this.

So how can i load a Excel file into my own application, find all charts inside the file and display them in my .NET WPF application?

    Thanks!

  • Hi thanei,

    Welcome to the MSDN forum!

It occurs to me that we can open the office document in the webbrowser. Since the webbrowser control uses the kernel of Internet explorer, we can refer to this KB:

How to configure Internet Explorer to open Office documents in the appropriate Office program instead of in Internet Explorer
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/162059

Also, there are some com controls which may be helpful on this issue.

In the Toolbox, right click, go to "Choose item", then you can find some excel components in the "COM Components" tab.

    Thanks.
