Where To Get 'Modern Windows SDK' Example Metro Apps, etc.

    Question

  • I downloaded the Win 8 Dev Preview *without* dev tools and installed VS 2011 separately. Where can I get the SDK, etc. to support Metro app development as separate downloads?

I really don't want to download the combination ISO, buy dual layer media and reinstall everything just to try some simple Metro stuff.

    TIA for any help :-)

  • According to what I know, at this moment those tools have not been publicly released yet: the Windows 8 SDK is only available to MSDN subscribers.
The only publicly available tool is the Microsoft Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview: the web installer can be downloaded from the following web address

    https://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=27543

    Bye.

  • Thanks, Luigi.

I went through all the DP offerings in my MSDN subscription, and it appears this 'modern Windows SDK' is only in the Win 8 with tools image. Going out to get some DL media now...
