Installing Windows Driver Testing Framework (WDTF) removes the ability to lock the OS RRS feed

  • Question

  • On an HP Windows 8 tablet, if we install the WDTF, we can no longer lock the computer by pressing <windowskey>-L, or by <ctrl><alt><del>, or by selecting the user in the upper-right corner of the Metro UI.

Has anyone else experienced this?  Is there a patch for this problem somewhere?

  • The WDTF framework does this intentionally during install to prevent the lock screen from interfering when we do sleep/resume and connected standby testing.

It's set via the registry at

    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\
    Name: DisableLockWorkstation
    Value: 1

You can change this setting to remove this.

I'll also take a note to see what we can do about moving this setting to take place at the start/end of the tests rather than keep this system wide....

    Thanks!
