Setting visibility of ribbon group based on user selection from installer. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have created a custom ribbon for word application(Addins) with two groups. The requirement is to provide a installer with a list of groups(Install shield). After installation, the word document should display only the group the user has selected. Any solutions for this in Application side or installer and registry. Please let me know your suggestions.

  • Hi Manimegalai

If you search the VSTO forum (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vsto/threads) you should find some discussions about loading Ribbon XML dynamically. Basically, instead of providing a static Ribbon XML file, you provide the dynamically constructed Ribbon XML as it loads.

the alternative would be to set variables and have the groups use a getVisible attribute to decide whether they're displayed, or not.

  • Hi Cindy,

Thanks for your reply. I tried your second option and it worked fine.
