  • Question about the results I'm geting from an Indexing Services query.  I'm using the same catalog and same query in both instances below, the only thing that changes is the number of maxrecords that I've set.

    Scenario #1

    Search criteria = "IPB"

    Maxrecords = 100

    Found Results = 3

    Scenario #2

    Search criteria = "IPB"

    Maxrecords = 200

    Found Results = 15

    I kind of understand that perhaps the query becomes "looser" when asking for more records to be found, but the fourth record found for the second scenario has a 20% rank.  I could understand if it was less than 1%, but 20% not showing up on the first scenario baffles me, especially when I told the catalog to return the top 100 rows.  What gives?

    Thanks!

  • I found the solution after searching for almost a day.

    The term maxrecords is misrepresented as the total number of records that you want returrned, when in actuality, it's the total number of records that you want/page.  When used with sortby = rankDrinks there is a bug.  I removed the maxrecords and kept the sortby and it returns 5000+ records, then I only display the first 100 records as I loop through the recordset.

    We're on Win 2003 server SP2.
