How to create a non plug and play device component? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Guys,

We are making use of the High Precision Timer (HPET) in Windows XPe by creating our own driver. We could install the driver manually using add hardware wizard (it is not plug and play device) and specify it as system device. Once it is installed, everything works fine.

The question that I have is, why when I created the component using the same drivers; it doesn't get installed during FBA? Is there any thing that I can do in order to install a driver manually during FBA (our system is a headless system, therefore there is no way to install it manually after post FBA as there is no mouse and keyboard)?

    Thank you for your help.

    Kind Regards,
    Tony

  • Hi Guys,

I found away to do it now. Basically we can use INFInstaller.exe (which come with the XPe development kit) to install the device driver and we need to add a FBA Generic Command for the driver and it works great ;)
