reading text file via vba to spreadsheet error RRS feed

  • Thanks to Hans I have the following code that works wounderfully! I have modified the code to do what I needed and all is okay until I pull in more than 9 files to be processed. It appears that at 10 files, the first column of line 4 ( lines 1-3 are headers)printed has an error in the string and is true for the first record (line 4) and the last record (line 11).

    The information in cell A (lines 4 and 11) should be like 2Z010005 E1 but instead are 2=010005 E1. I am puzzled as to why the vba code is replaceing the second charcter with an equal character. If I run more files than 10 the problem is the same but in more lines in column A, while less than 10 files all if fine.

    Hope someone can help. Here is the code.

  • I don't see anything that would cause this error. Are you sure the problem is not in the _hdr files?

  • I am not sure of anything any more, this just poped up out of no where. Do think its from switching between HDR and CHR files?

    I just ran the code by stepping thru. I held down the F8 Key so the code ran fast but not as faster than plane out running via Macro. Still get the error. I did step thru slowly in line for and had no error, but then ran faster by holding the F8 Key down and in line 10 the error showed up. In watch the error show just like what is on the spreadsheet.

  • Hans,

    it is the HDR file info being placed in column A. It's only that one word from the whole file, but it is createing a big problem

  • You posted a link to a _chr file higher up in this thread. Could you upload the problem _hdr file (or a copy of it) and post a link in a reply here?

  • Next time, please post a new reply instead of editing an existing reply. Editing doesn't update the "last reply" date/time so I can't see that something has changed. I only noticed your edit because I was reviewing some of the threads I have participated in recently.

    Are you sure that you uploaded the correct files? NONE of the _hdr files has an entry in arrParts(38).
