Problems sending dbmail from SQL 2008 64-bit Cluster default instance non default port RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am having issues sending mail from a SQL 2008 cluster running on 64bit Windows 2008.  It is a default instance, but the port # was changed to be something other than 1433.  We have turned the firewall off temporarily to rule out any firewall issues.  SQL Browser is installed and running.  Interestingly enough, if I change the port # back to 1433, the queued mail gets picked up and sent.  I've read that the SQL Browser is not used when accessing a default instance even in the port is changed.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • solved my issue...checked SQL error log and found an error:

    Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 11.

I added the Service Account as a sys_admin and it worked
