SSL communication not working on Windows mobile 5.0 devices RRS feed

  • Hi,

    I am developing an application for windows mobile 5 and windows mobile 6. My application have to do https communication to our server. On windows mobile 6 it works fine whereas on windows mobile 5, it does not work. It throws InvalidOperationException. I am not able to read the message also because it gives " An error message cannot be displayed because an optional resource assembly containing it cannot be found" . wheather windows mobile 5 does not support SSL communication from applications ? I am using httpWebRequest in C#. Can somebody please help me out here?

  • Wildcard certificates don't work in Windows Mobile 5 whereas they do work in WM6.  That could be it.  

    If you're not sure if you have a wildcard certificate, try using the  Windows Mobile SSLChainSaver.exe  (run it on a desktop.)  

    Also, can you get to the https url  in Pocket IE on the device?

  • Hi,

    My CAB file is also stored on the same server. I am able to download the CAB file to the device from the same server. So the SSL is working fine from IE. Only from application i have trouble. I have even added code to trust all certificates and still no use. Have any idea?
