sp_dbmmonitorresults not presne in SQL server 2005 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have created database mirroring for a database but when I want to check the sp_dbmmonitorresults stored procedure it was not present in SQL server 2005. I tried searching and found that I need to Launch Database Mirroring monitor but it is also not available in SQL server console. But I could see that in my SQL server 2008 setup. I need to know what needs to be done to get sp_dbmmonitorresults on SQL server 2005.

    Thanks,

    Vishal

  • Hi Vishal,

First question to you, which edition of SQL Server 2005 you are using, because Database Mirroring Monitor is available only in SQL Server Standard Edition and Enterprise Edition.

Please refer below link on how to launch Database Mirroring Monitor

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms365786(SQL.90).aspx

Also for using sp_dbmmonitorresults stored procedure, permission is required if you are not the member of sysadmin

To monitor database mirroring, you must be a member of either the sysadmin fixed server role or the dbm_monitor fixed database role in the msdb database on the server instance. If you are a member of sysadmin or dbm_monitor on only one of the partner server instances, the monitor can connect only to that partner; the monitor cannot retrieve information from the other partner.

If you are a member of just dbm_monitor on a server instance, you will have limited permissions on that server instance. You will only be able to view the most recent status row. If you connect to a server instance using dbm_monitor permissions, Database Mirroring Monitor informs you that you have limited permissions.

  • What is the service pack level on your SQL 2005 instance?

DBM is available in 2005 version too http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms365809(SQL.90).aspx & http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms365781(v=SQL.90).aspx links.
