SharePoint list view: not able to change name/url or delete view.

    Question

  • Particular list view is not available in the Current view drop down, but works if we access directly as we know url.

    Also, if i edit view, there is no option change name/url and no delete option. View not available in designer too.

  • Hi Abhilash,

    As a workaround, I suggest you creating a new view with the same configure as this view, and delete this view using PowerShell as below:

    $web = Get-SPWeb "http://sp"
    $list = $web.GetList("http://sp/Lists/list1/")
    $myview = $list.Views["test"]
    $list.Views.Delete($myview.id)
    $web.Dispose()

    Best regards,

    Grace Wang

  • That option is not visible. But i think public view as all users can access as it is available as link in left navigation of the site.

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

    I had similar issue. I got resolved using SP designer . I could able to see View  designer and deleted from there. You can try your luck in designer.

  • Hi Abhilash- are you able to access & make those changes to other views in the list? If you go to "configure views for this location," is that view selected as not visible? Is there audience targeting on the view? Are there any customizations on the site/page, specifically code?

  • Sorry for the delayed response.

    @Cameron,

    Yes, i can change other views but not this particular view and nothing configured in configure views for this location.

  • Well... that's strange. You could delete it programmatically:
