The download of the specified resource has failed RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am getting an error in my VBA code that says "The download of the specified resource has failed."

    The error occurs on  on the oHTTP.send line.  Below is my function.

    Public Function spvJSONRequest(strCallType As String, strCall As String) As String

    'strCallType is Post or Get
    'strCall is JSON command

        Dim strURL As String
        Dim oHTTP  As New MSXML2.XMLHTTP
        Dim cntr As Integer

        strURL = "https://localhost:9790/rest/command"

        spvJSONRequest = ""

        oHTTP.Open "POST", strURL, False
        oHTTP.SetRequestHeader "Content-Type", "application/json"
        oHTTP.send strCall

        spvJSONRequest = oHTTP.ResponseText

        Set oHTTP = Nothing

    End Function

    Yesterday this worked perfectly fine.  Overnight we had a power surge and my computer rebooted.  Since then the code has failed. I have done the following:

    1 - rebooted again.

    2 - tried the code in Restlet Client (Chrome add on).  It works.

    3 - Stopped the middleware program and restarted.  This is the URL localhost.

    4 - checked for Microsoft updates. The only update was MS Security Essentials.

    5 - installed pending updates and rebooted.

    6 - Tried the code on another computer in the office.  It works there.

    7 - Unchecked, then rechecked reference Microsoft XML, V6.0

    8 - compacted and repaired my Access 2010 program.

    9 - Put the code into another Access program on my computer.  I get the same error.

    It seems like this must be a security issue, but I'm at a loss.

    I hope someone has a suggestion of what to try.

  • This was finally solved by uninstalling the middleware and re-installing.
