Can't publish project: "No certificates were found that met all the given criteria"

    Question

  • I wrote a project years ago using VB Express 2013 that I needed to update after finding a minor bug.

When I loaded VB Express, it said I wasn't "Signed in" (yellow triangle by name), so I signed in using my Outlook account. I was recognized, my license was verified. Everything appears to be fine.

But when I try to Publish my project, I get the following error:

Error    2    An error occurred while signing: Failed to sign bin\Debug\app.publish\\setup.exe. SignTool Error: No certificates were found that met all the given criteria.

...and the project refuses to be created. How do I resolve this? Thx.

My "Signing Certificate" expired last March. Unchecking "Sign the ClickOnce manifests" checkbox in Project Properties | Signing resolved the issue.
