How do I administer SMTP on Server 2008? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Apologies if this is the wrong forum for this question.  I have done a web search and forum search for what should be a very simple function, but cannot find the answer.  How do you administer SMTP under Windows Server 2008?  I have SMTP installed under Server Manager - Features.  Under Server 2003, it was under the IIS Manager.  But it is no longer there, and I don't see it under the Server Manager or Administrative Tools either.  Ironically, I am able to connect remotely from a 2003 machine and administer it.  But how do I do this on the local server?

  • hi you have to install the IIS Manager 6.0.
This is my only know way to administrate the SMTP Server ....
Then you can administrate it like on a 2003 Server.

  • Hi ,

Are you trying to administer SMTP on  IIS 7 manager??

If you are not trying this, then you should install IIS mangement console from features.
Then you will be able to administrator SMTP using IIS 6 manger.

Let me know if this helps.

    Thanks
    Asha
