Access and Windows 10 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a strange issue. I have several Access (2010) databases (both .mdb and .accde) and they work fine on PC's running Windows 7 and Windows 8 BUT when I try to open them on a Windows 10 PC they fail. I mean I open one of them with Access 2010 on a Windows 7 PC and everything works fine. I close it and try to open the same .accde from a Windows 10 PC and I'll get 10 error boxes saying "Undefined function "IsNull" in expression"; then a box saying "The expression On Load you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: File format no longer supported." (BOTH COMPUTER - WIN7 AND WIN 10 ARE RUNNING SAME VERSION OF ACCESS);then more "Undefined function "IsNull" etc.

Anyone have any ideas besides going back to Windows 7?????

  • Hi. Just a stab in the dark but is the Windows 10 machine using Access 2010 64-bit?

  • Thanks but the Windows 7 and Windows 10 machines and all running Access 2010 32bit; they all show as version 14.0.

  • Hi Richard,

I suggest that you check the code to see which line of code cause this issue. And base on the error message, it seems the Access not able to find the "IsNull" function, however this function is provided by VBA.

Can you use this function in a new database?

If you still have the problem, you can remove the sensitive data and upload a demo database to OneDrive to help us narrow down this issue.

    Regards & Fei
