Windows Store submission (Dashboard bug?) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We have developed a Kinect Windows Store app. We are using WindowsPreview.Kinect and Microsoft.Kinect.Face.

Locally, the application passes the Windows App Certification Kit process.

When we upload the app to the Store, we are getting the following error:

    General metadata correctness

•Error Found: The general metadata correctness test detected the following errors:

◦The type WindowsPreview.Kinect.KinectSensor referenced by type Microsoft.Kinect.Face.IFaceFrameSourceFactory in file Microsoft.Kinect.Face.winmd was not found. All types referenced in metadata files must be discoverable.
◦The type WindowsPreview.Kinect.KinectSensor referenced by type Microsoft.Kinect.Face.IFaceFrameSource in file Microsoft.Kinect.Face.winmd was not found. All types referenced in metadata files must be discoverable.
◦The type WindowsPreview.Kinect.BodyFrameReference referenced by type Microsoft.Kinect.Face.IFaceFrame in file Microsoft.Kinect.Face.winmd was not found. All types referenced in metadata files must be discoverable.

The Support team is not able to help us.

    Any thoughts?

Thank you in advance for your comments.

  • Hi! Could you provide me with a little more info?

-Did you check the box to publish the app on ARM? If so, can you try unchecking it?

-Which stage of the app submission pipeline did this fail at?

    Thanks a bunch!

    Thanks for your reply.

    • I did not check ARM. Kinect does not work on ARM, so I did not create ARM packages.
    • I run WACK locally. Passed. Uploaded the app packages to update an existing Windows Store app. Store WACK failed.

Says that WindowsPreview.Kinect is missing. However, I have included it using Visual Studio "Add Reference -> Windows 8.1 -> Extensions".

  • I have tried to add WindowsPreview.Kinect.dll and WindowsPreview.Kinect.winmd manually. However, if I do so, it doesn't pass local WACK certification.

Moreover, the suggested way is to add the references using "Windows 8.1 -> Extensions".

Any thoughts? Seems like a Dashboard bug to me. The same app was uploaded with absolutely no issues in the previous Dashboard version. We were using the same assemblies.

  • Microsoft Support has just confirmed that some winmd assemblies are not supported in the new dashboard.

Any plans to support Kinect again?

    Thank you.

  • Hi! To let you know, I've been following up with our Store team internally to see what's changed on their end that might be blocking you. If you're at any point successful in getting your app into the store, let me know! In the meantime, I'll keep up the investigation on my end.

  • One follow up question - can you send the certification report? Or at least let me know at which phase in the certification pipeline it's failing?

  • Please disregard previous message - the issue should have been fixed last night. Can you try re-submitting your app? Thank you!
