IIS 8 Http Redirect will not take new port #? RRS feed

    For whatever reason I could not find mention of this anywhere on the internet ...

    When you use the Http Redirect option for a Site Application, it does not seem to like it when you try to specify a destination URL that includes a port number, regardless of whether or not you select the "exact destination" option.

    Does Http Redirect specifically not allow you to change the port number?  In which case is my next best option to add a redirect tag in web.config?

    Thanks.  John

    Hi,

    It would seem weird to prevent that for no reason. Try maybe something like https://forums.iis.net/t/1174819.aspx?Need+to+redirect+HTTP+to+HTTPS+on+non+standard+ports ?

    As far as I know, the http redirect could allow you redirect to  destination URL that includes a port number.

    I also create a test demo on the IIS.

    The web config as below:

      <httpRedirect enabled="true" destination="http://192.168.2.51:8080/" />

    Best Regards,
