Writing custom MFT is the only way to get raw frame of camera?

    Question

  • Hi, all

I want to get the raw frame(YUV format) of the camera. I almost read all the metro doc and only can find one way to get the raw frame: custom MFT. The example is in "Media capture using capture device sample".

Is there a better way? We're doing something like video call, so we need to get the raw frame, and then:

1: compress to H.264 and transmit it via internet to called party.

2: present it with remote video frame(raw format, YUV), for example: picture in picutre.

I know that the method named StartRecordToCustomSinkAsync of MediaCapture is a way to get H.264 stream directly, but I just want to get raw format in order to utilize existing compressing and transmitting modules.

  • An MFT is the best way to do what you are trying to do.
