WPF: System.OutOfMemoryException RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I keep getting a System.OutOfMemoryException error while doing my XAML coding with Visual Studio 2008. When I check my System Resource, I have 4GB RAM in my PC and I am using less than 1 GB RAM for my processes. I checked the devenv.exe process and it just just consuming around 300 - 500+ MB RAM.

Can I know what is causing this error and how can I resolve it?

    Thanks!

    Best Regards,

  • We've seen this problem too.

I think VS2008 is actually missing address space more than actual memory. (You may want to check you have plenty of disk space too)

You can look at here http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=971785&SiteID=1 and

    for more information.

Is your system working better just after a reboot?

  • Hello Vincent,

Thanks for the info. I have broken down my WPF application to many smaller parts and then adding them to my main application. By doing so, I have not seen the error anymore. However, a new problem arise in that I can no longer see my main application in design view. There is an error stating 'Could not create an instance of type {class}' but I can still run my application as per norm.

Before making the change, rebooting my system helps but the error will just reappear, more frequently as my application gets larger.

    Thanks again.
