Update WP7.1 to WP8.1 Silverlight - Invalid package issues RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm having an issue after updating my app "Gefahren Info", ID 9nblggh09b1t, from WP7.1 to WP8.1 Silverlight. On submitting my new packages I'm getting these errors:

Invalid package identity name: 788c1ca1-0cd5-46eb-84cf-4ec8a039d5aa (expected: )
Invalid package family name: 788c1ca1-0cd5-46eb-84cf-4ec8a039d5aa_3t0epabs2a730 (expected: )

I cannot leave these values empty as I'm getting build errors then. I was not able to reserve the name on the App Identity page in the dev center. I copied the required values from the WMAppManifest to the Package.appxmanifest as instructed here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/dn642081(v=vs.105).aspx

    How can I fix this?

  • Hi Thomas Pentenrieder,

    >>” I cannot leave these values empty as I'm getting build errors then.”

If you didn’t set the “identity or family” value empty. Could you generate the app package successfully after you update WP7.1 to WP8.1 Silverlight?

  • I am able to build the app just fine, it just does not get accepted when I upload it in the dev center.

Here's what my Package.appxmanifest looks like:

  • Hi Thomas Pentenrieder,

Based on your description, I would move this thread to “Submitting and Publishing Apps” forum for a better support.

    Thanks for your understanding.
