Configurate load balance with custom probe response RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Azure team

I have a question about configuring load balance's behavior using custom probe response. if instance's CPU usage is higher than 70%, instance will return a http response 400 to tell load balancer that instance is unhealthy now. What is load balancer going to do if all instances return 400 response?

  • Hi,
That's a good question, if you think about it, the load balancer only routes traffic to your instances, if an instance returns 400 then the Load balancer will take that instance off the load balance list, and stop routing traffic to that instance. If in case all instances return 400 then the load balancer will not be routing your traffic. You have to design your Application to handle such scenarios, by choosing to scale out or scale up.
