  • Hi All,

      I am using below SQL for getting the resournce engagement on projects, thing is total of any user is 100%. I am using capacity and actuals reported against them .

    Declare @Months int
    set @Months='2'

    SELECT
      distinct([ProjectName]),
    [ResourceName],

            (Capacity-((Capacity-TUV.[TaskActualWork])/ iif (Capacity=0,1,Capacity)))/10 as Engaegment,
    Month(RBDUV.[TimeByDay]) as _Month,
          Year(RBDUV.[TimeByDay]) as _Year,

        RUV.[Resource Departments]
      FROM
    [dbo].[MSP_EpmAssignment_UserView] as AUV,
     [dbo].[MSP_EpmProject_UserView] as PUV,
       [dbo].[MSP_EpmResource_UserView] as RUV
       ,
     [MSP_EpmTask_UserView] as TUV
     ,MSP_EpmAssignmentByDay_UserView as ABDUV
    ,MSP_EpmResourceByDay_UserView as RBDUV
      where
       PUV.[ProjectUID]=AUV.[ProjectUID]
        and
      RUV.ResourceUID= AUV.ResourceUID
     and TUV.TaskUID= AUV.taskUID
      and
       [Resource Departments] is not null
       and ABDUV.TaskUID=TUV.TaskUID
     and RUV.ResourceUID= RBDUV.ResourceUID
     and RBDUV.TimeByDay=ABDUV.TimeByDay
    and RUV.[Employee Type]='Contractor'
    and RUV.[Resource Departments] ='CIO.EA'

    and Month(RBDUV.[TimeByDay]) =@Months

  • Question is Actuals on a days relative to Capacity on the day is accurate way of getting resource engagement in real time or should I use Planned?

    Planning team and Resource Mangers have different perspectives here, what is the best practice that is followed?

  • I think it depends on your definition of Engagement, and the purpose of this report. Are you looking backwards in time, and saying this is how much my resources were engaged in the project or are you looking forward saying here is my demand vs supply of resource time?

    If this is a historical report, then looking at actuals makes sense. Otherwise it should be planned. Resource Capacity Planning generally is more useful if done for future.
