How to read a pixels pattern of the characters in an image file contaning a line of characters

Hi,

Can u tell me the code for comparing the pattern of a character for example I have say 'a' with the already given character in a templae that is also say the same character 'a" in the image. I need the comparision code for the above stated info. Please do the needful.
