Driver Prevents Power-Off or Reboot RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

we have a simple PCI Driver, which was written for Windows 7 using KMDF version 1.9.  The driver loads fine under Windows 8 and the Device is usable with out software. The problem is now if we try to shutdown or reboot the system, the system will hang. VGA is already off when the system hangs. And I have currently no idea what causes this behavior as under Windows 7 the driver works fine.

    Tahnk you and Best Regards

  • Attach a kernel debugger and see what is happening. Most likely you are blocking in a power down related callback or you have a power managed Io queue with active requests and you have not acknowledged them with an EvtIoStop callback which means the queue will block power down until these requests are completed.

  • What type of driver is this? What device class is it installed under?
