Asking for a specific scheme app handler

    Question

  • Can I ask WinRT if there's an app that handles the scheme?

I want to use LaunchUriAsync to launch the Twitter app (that's an example) but I'd like to know in advance if the twitter app is installed, or any app that handles the scheme. Is there a way "ask" that?

    Regards

  • Hi,

    Thanks for posting!

I think you can check this secheme by this method:

    FallbackUri

Read/write Gets or sets a value that represents a URI that the user should be taken to in the browser if no app exists to handle the file type or URI.

And you want get more detial, see this link:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/windows.system.launcheroptions

If you dont use this method,I think you can write an event to listenning and dispathing the LaunchUriAsync event by yourself.

    Hope this helps!

  • mmm... I don't think that's my solution... I don't want to launch anything if there's no app that can handle that scheme, that's why I want to be able to ask about a specific scheme, and if there's an app that can handle the scheme I would then launch the URI.

    Did I make myself clear?
