  • Is this a Windows application ? It seems to me it would be much simpler to use Word automation to perform a MailMerge. As it seems more related to how to perform a MailMerge with Word, the http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/worddev/threads forum is likely better.

Sorry I understood you wanted some kind of XSD file for your EDMX file rather than for the entities described in your EDMX file which is perhaps also your issue. My understanding is that you are running xsd.exe against the EDMX file. Instead it should be run against the XML *data* you want to export to the Word Template (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3945430/creating-xml-and-xsd-files-based-on-net-entities could also help).

Assuming you still want to follow this path which is likely not the simplest...

  • Hi,

The XSD files are already available as MS needs them to validate EDMX files : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb399604.aspx.

I would suggest rather to explain what you are trying to do rather than how you plan to do it (it seems you want some kind of XSD that would be specific to your db ? It looks weird)...

  • Hi Patrice,

Here my problem I want to query some data from my Sql DB and perform a merge of that data inside a MS Word Template.

After doing some search i find this http://www.codeproject.com/KB/office/Generating_Word_Reports.aspx wich implies that i must apply an XSD on my Word template and dealing with some XSLT to perform this Merge.

So my problem was how to generate the XSD file from a data model to apply it to that word template before doing the merge.

If you have another solution to perform a word generation I'll be very gratefull.

    Thanks
