Getting error vc_red.cab; error = 0x800b010e during installation of Team Explorer 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, can someone help?

I am trying all sorts of solutions found on this forum but to no avail.

I am trying to install Team Explorer 2010 on WinXP SP3 and keep getting this error.

Have already tried different things.  Including download different iso files from different places including the MSDN site.

I have tried to burn the iso to dvd as well as mount it directly with no success.

Also, I tried to download and run vcredist_x86.exe for VS 2010, I am getting a Generic trust failure.  In fact, I get this same message when trying to run .Net Framework 4.0 also.

I am not sure how else to proceed here.  Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    sskount

  • Thanks.

Issue resolved.  Turns out that the system was locked down by the infrastructure team preventing windows update with group policy.  Enabled that option, works for me now and installation was successful.

  • sskount, can you please elaborate how you got your system to work? My machine is managed by our IT department and I can only access the internal update server.
