Siliverlight for Windows Embedded runs on Windows Embedded Standard? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a Siliverlight for Windows Embedded application running on Windows Embedded Compact 7 (WEC7). Can the application be made to run on Windows Embedded Standard? Will the Windows Embedded Silverlight Tools (WEST) target the Standard version? Or does it only target WEC7?

We currently use the Expression Blend 3 tools and C++ code behind and we'd like to keep using these tool, just on Windows Embedded Standard and not WEC7.

    Thanks for the help.

  • You can probably use the XAML, but your will need to rewrite your application.  WES is essentially the desktop OS and only runs normal Silverlight and/or WPF.  It cannot run a SLWE application which is strictly for compact.  Unfortunately you cannot really use C++ for the desktop Silverlight, so you are stuck with rewriting all the UI code at a minimum.
