WES7 and MPEG2 Multicast Stream Reception RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

    I have a WES7 Testimage that has WMP12, WMC .. and a lot more.
If I start VLC to receive an IPTV MPEG2 multicast stream, the stream is
joined (I can see that on the switch and the network traffic) but
nothing comes through to VLC. I even can see the network load on the
WES7 Testpc's local interface, but its somehow blocked between the
network interface and VLC. There is no Firewall in the image.
On a normal Win7 PC it works perfect.

What did I miss to add to the image?

    Thanks
    Franz

  • Try adding the Firewall and see what happens.

  • On my device incoming connections were blocked without the firewall in the image. I rebuilt it with the firewall and added the needed exceptions and everything worked fine. You'll also want to make sure that your exceptions apply to public networks - even if you set the oobe option for a work network, the system still assumes the network is public. If you run a custom shell you'll never see the dialog asking what type of network you are connected to.

  • Thank you guys.

That indeed is strange. I added the FW and I had to make some exceptions
to get it running. Adding the FW and then simply disabling it did not
    work either.

Then there is another bug: Upon the first connection the FW ask to allow
the access or not. Hitting yes does not allow it! It by mistake created
the exact opposite entry which has to be changed manually in the FW
    interface afterwards to allow traffic.

That all seems very strange and incorrect.
