How to remove location dependency ??? RRS feed

  • Question

    Hi All ,

In CCF Admin console when we host an application we provide the physical path of the application ( in case of external applications and hosted controls) . Now is there any way i can remove this physical  location dependency ?? Is giving Relative address or percentage address an option ??? Basically we are trying to set up a Client-Server environment. Now is there a complusion that in all my clients the references have to be in the same physical location ???

Environment variable based Address generally work.  Relative addresses generally do not.
( the word “generally” is used due to the sheer number of possible variations of applications that CCF could be using )

if you are referring to hosted controls and adapters, you can install them in the same location or you can install them on a URL ( network load will increase ) with the appropriate .net permissions.

Generally it is assumed that External applications will exist in the same locations on each agent desktop,  If you know them to exist off program files then the environment var approach works

However if you don’t have any control over how your users install their applications, then you’re a bit stuck.  CCF does not currently support user specific application configuration.  If, however, your dealing with several groups of users that have configuration specific to the their group, you can create group / roles with different configuration.

    Hope that helps.
