InfoPath form is being deprecated RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi - I understand that InfoPath form is being deprecated in the next version of SharePoint.

What is replacing this? And what should we do now in SP2013 to create rich forms that can be carried forward to the next version?

  • There's about 9 years left for InfoPath.  http://blogs.office.com/2014/01/31/update-on-infopath-and-sharepoint-forms  While no new functionality will be added, it will still be supported.

    - third party forms tools - there are several (Nintex and others, do a web search)

    - hinted at projects from these Microsoft teams: Word, Excel, Access and Visual Studio (could end up with any one or all four)

    - custom work using SharePoint Designer, HTML, CSS and JavaScript

So far I've not seen a single replacement for use with the three common uses of InfoPath in SharePoint: Forms Libraries, custom library forms (the InfoPath button in the List and Library ribbons) and work flow forms (Association, Initiation and custom tasks).
