Is the same thing stored in sql server metadata also when data file size increases. RRS feed

  • In oracle whenever  tablespace size increases this information stored in metadata.Is the same thing stored in sql server metadata also when data file size increases.

  • In SQL it stores current information of the Auto growth of the datafile/log file when ever the modification done either M annually or when final  increase from the request from the DB manager...in the Catlog of SQL server database.

  • Yes, file growth are log with OS performance counter; for log file growth you can find a sample script at TechNet ScriptCenter: Log Growth Rate

  • Not sure prior to SQL 2005. But since 2005 we can get the file growth information

  • Adding to that, you can find the file growth information in the growth report you get when right click the database and goto report sections in management studio
