WEC7 Native WiFi driver supported WiFi module in market RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    OS: Windows Embedded Compact 7.

    platform: AM335x ARM Cortex A8.

As WEC7 has native device drivers for qualcomm atheros AR6K and Realtek 8185 chipsets, we are searching for wifi modems with these chip set. this will help us to make use of native drivers.

Any body have idea on vendor who will provide these modules with SDIO or USB interface?

  • This is not available as far as i know.

You need to select a chipset closer to this like "AR6001" or something else.

modify the driver "Download firmware etc"

    Use linux driver for reference.

Use SDIO based eval kit for AR6xxx for testing. The biggest issue is the support from

    chip vendor and documentation.

if your organization is bigger and your volume of production is huge may be

you can get the support from these vendors

  • Unfortunately WIFI this is a real pain point with Windows Embedded.

There are a few drivers out there but they hard to come by and usually very expensive.

TI driver I was just quoted on was $50k. Marvel 8787 driver is in the same ball park.

Realtek did a nice USB wifi driver but just for WEC2013.
