Hi,
i have basic knowledge of C# programming(not good enough to feel confident about) im planning to strt reading it and here im stuck in a slight prob....
The problem is which is a better approach to gain expertise over C# and gain mastery over tht....to read C# programming or Visual C# programming...
The Former teaches us to write a C# program in text editor whereas the latter teaches us from the Visual Studio perspective.
Now-a-days no one is programming C# without Visual Studio but i have a feeling that if i read VC# then ill miss out learning the intricacies happening behind the actual code which is automatically generated for us in the Visual Studio...
Programming Windows with C# by Petzold is a good book for C# windows programming and Wrox beginner and professional guides are better for VC#
Plz bail me out from this confusion of which 1 to go for....

Hi,
You have an interesting situation. Well if somebody ask me to develop an application in ASP probably I will refuse or will come up with some blunders as I don't have a single line clue of how to work with ASP on the other hand I am quite good at ASP.net. I depends upon the requirements as if you required to get an idea of earlier technologies or not. You know technology is changing like an hour clock. Today you will come up with VC# and by the time you will try to move on to C#.Net 2.0, MS must have launched the final release of framework 3.5 which itself contains many new things in it. What you gonna do then? What I recommend is to go for the latest technology if you are sharp enough to grasp it and I believe that when there is a will there is a way. But for some reasons if you still want to know about VC# keep reading it in spare time but full attention on C#.Net... Any way Choice is Yours!!!
I hope it might solve your confusionMonday, March 26, 2007 7:45 AM -

Hi,
I usually prefer Wrox, the way of writing and the way of defining examples etc. Initially you can go for 2.0 Beginners then you can move on to professional, as Wrox always provide the two different books for novoice and professionals. You can also check Ms Press books.
Thanks and best regards,
