HCK Reinstall with IO Before and After - SFC.exe Failure RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello All,

I am running HCK testing on a touch screen driver.
I am getting test failures on some of the client machines.
I have applied the latest filters to the result set but this did not reverse the failure.

    Text-Clients:
    Win7_x86 - Fail
    Win7_x64 - Fail
    Win81_x86 - Pass
    Win81_x64 - Fail

Looking at the results in HCK studio the failure 'X' symbol shows next to "RunSFCLibraryInVerifyOnlyMode".
On each of the clients I ran sfc.exe /scannow, and re-ran the test with the same result.

I saved some of the logs in the HCK studio, from the "results" tab, under "run tests" and "additional-files".

  • Since there is no reply from Microsoft or the forum, I will post an answer to my own question.

The failures are caused by a Microsoft Windows update downloaded onto the client machines.

    Namely KB3022345

    To fix:

First remove this update from the system (ControlPanel, WindowsUpdates, ViewUpdateHistory, InstalledUpdates)

On Windows 7 clients, I had to download an exe called SFCfix from http://thetechcookbook.com/windows-8-update-kb3022345-causing-corrupt-files/

On Windows 8 clients, I ran this command at an Admin Command prompt, Dism /Online /Clean-Image /RestoreHealth

Finally I would advise anybody running an HCK test setup to turn off Windows updates on the client machines.
