MSAGL download from msdn is a non-functional exe? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have tried to download the MSAGL tool from the msdn downloads site (we are msdn subscribers). The download is in the form of a 4 meg exe. However, the exe will not run (we get the "not a valid win32 application" error). We have tried this on two different machines, both of which are running 64bit Windows 7. Is this just a bad exe, or are we missing something obvious? Isn't the distribution supposed to be a msi?

  • The problem turned out to be that we were using Firefox to do the download. We tried it with IE and it worked fine. If you don't use IE, you don't get the complete file.

  • It has to be an MSI. I suspect if you just change the extension to .MSI  it will install. I will try to clarify the situation at Microsoft.

    Thanks, Lev
