Android Outlook open proprietary attached file. RRS feed

  • Question

  • We send proprietary attachment file (extension .emc) to clients. We have an Android application that can open these files. From most email clients the client allow the file to be opened by clicking on the attachment.

For Android Outlook we cannot get Outlook to open the attached file.

In the email we send out the file has extension .emc and mime-type application/x-emc, older emails has application/octet-stream.

In our Android application we have a set of VIIEW activity intent-filters that matches FILE schemed intents which matches the filename to end with .emc. We also have intent filters that matches CONTENT schemed intents which matches mimeType "application./octet-stream" and "application/x-emc".

For a debug we also added a general intent-filter of ANY scheme with mimeType "*/*" which allows our application to matches for any VIEW activity. Even then our application does not catch an activity. It almost seems that for our attachement that Outlook does not event create an ACTIVITY to VIEW the emc.

Please can you help us to describe how you build the ACTIVITY with scheme, mimType and paths for proprietary attached files.
